Marketing Technology Landscape Supergraphic (2012)

I’ve been trying to get my head around the Marketing ecosystem in order to figure out where the investments would make sense and how do the available options really tie together.

And then, today, I came across this amazing capture of the Marketing Technology Landscape. Sharing along.

I’ve to admit, this is only getting more complex every year with more and more vendors jumping in with incremental leverage provided by the underlying technologies – cloud, mobile, & social.

However, knowing this is not going to help. Marketing folks first need to figure out “What” they really want to do, and also be clear about their objectives, and the philosophy they want to pursue. The Technology part is, as with any technology, only the enabler to what someone wants to do. This picture cannot be starting point, but just a reference.

In that regard, I think the term “Marketing Technologist” is going to catch on soon 🙂

  1. Is this InfoGraphic or MessyGraphic? 🙂 !

    1. Looks Messy, but just a graphic. Use it the way you want.

Typically, if I have a specific need, I’d look at that particular circle. One cannot put all together in one shot. Many start with a CRM and a CMS based website.

  2. Does any one know how much companies spend on their websites and various related expenses?…

From what I have seen start-ups-small-mid-size companies treat the website development as a project, and consider mostly the technical maintenance part as operational expense linked to it. They don’t plan for all the content & social media activities …

  3. Thanks for sharing! I’m going to show this next time someone questions the importance of digital marketing
